An irrational fear or phobia represents a negative belief system you have. This is likely to have been created by a negative experience you had in early life. These fears and phobias can lie dormant or at least be manageable for many years. During times of high stress, however, they can come to the surface and left untreated will simply get worse.
Typically most phobias can be trested in 1 to 2 sessions.
